How a session breakout trade works.

Five moments, from the open to the exit. Every EA in the series follows the same rules.

  1. 01

The session opens and a range forms.

In the quiet hours before the open, price moves inside a tight band. The EA marks its high and low and waits. No trade yet.

  2. 02

Price breaks out of the range.

When price pushes through the edge of the range, the EA enters in the direction of the break.

  3. 03

    The stop-loss goes on first.

Every order carries a hard stop on the other side of the range. If the breakout fails, the loss is capped at a size you chose.

  4. 04

Risk is fixed before the entry.

Position size comes from your risk setting, for example 1% of the account. The distance to the stop decides the size, not the other way round.

  5. 05

    The exit is planned too.

The trade closes at its target or on a trailing stop. There is no averaging down, no grid and no martingale, ever.

The Lab standard

Six checks. No shortcuts.

Every robot the Lab reviews faces the same six checks on real ticks, and we publish where it falls short.

  1. 01

    Real ticks

Every-tick data from a real broker feed, not one-minute bars.

  2. 02

    Out-of-sample

A hold-out period the EA never saw while it was being tuned.

  3. 03

    Live and verified

A live signal verified by a third party, not a screenshot.

  4. 04

    Real costs

Spread, commission and swap at a real broker’s rates.

  5. 05

    Robustness

Results survive nudged settings and different start dates.

  6. 06

    Integrity

No hard-coded dates, no hidden martingale, no curve-fit tricks.
